Earthy, old school wines from a near-impossible-to-find corner of Southern Umbria. The Mattioli family—stewards of these rugged hillsides since the 1100’s—farm a scant eight hectares planted to a mixture of local olives trees, ancient grains and indigenous old vines. Total production is normally 8000-or-so bottles. Last year difficult weather conditions wiped out 70% of the harvest. Fortunately, what little wine was made still exudes all of the rustic, Umbrian charm that have made Collecapretta a shop favorite.
