From the Gold Coast to the Côte-d’O’r, the Brilliant Wines of Vin Noé.
Jon Purcell established Vin Noé in 2016, adding his name to a small but growing list of young, dynamic expat winemakers popping up in Burgundy. In 2020, the native Southern Californian’s project took a giant leap forward when he took over for a retiring Jean-Jacques Morel, inheriting not only his .08 hectares of old vines in Saint Aubin and Puligny, but the legacy of Morel’s two-decade experiment with low-yield, no-till organic farming. And while Purcell has implemented some minimal plowing in recent years, he approaches vineyard work with the same vigor as his predecessor. His wines—dense but vibrant, piecing yet textured— embody and connect the old and new-schools of Burgundy.
